The Neuse River is running pretty low right now, which is not uncommon for late in the Summer. A few weeks without significant rain coupled with high heat (equals lots of evaporation) has Falls Lake right about where they want it. That means they turn off the river. Hard to believe they can just turn off a river, but that’s what happens. There is still plenty of water to canoe or kayak down the river. Here I found a sunrise reflecting on a shallow spot on the Neuse River near Raleigh.
