Pulling the Plug

With the recent rain the Army Corps of Engineers decided to drain a little water out of Falls Lake. That means the Neuse River is way up and roaring! The Neuse River at Falls Dam is flowing at 2000 cubic feet per second (CFS).  By contrast, before yesterday it was well below average, flowing at around 70 CFS. There were a couple of whitewater kayakers out surfing the small waves created by the high water this morning. This is the closest place to Raleigh and the Triangle to get whitewater action. Even if you don’t kayak, it is fun to watch if you are looking for things to do around Raleigh.
